Christmas Trains at the Strasburg Rail Road

Описание: On December 2nd, 2023, I made a visit to the Strasburg Rail Road to see locomotives #89 and #90 hauling the railroad's Christmas trains. The trains departed every half hour, traveling from Strasburg Station to Leaman Place Jct. (Paradise, PA) for a 45-minute excursion, resulting in the two trains passing each other at Groff's Grove near the famous Cherry Hill Amusement Park. The beginning of the day proved to be cloudy and foggy, and it then turned to a sunny and clear day in the afternoon, hence the distinct difference in appearance of some of the shots. As a result, I decided to try something different for this video and made a lashup of various shots of the two engines that do not necessarily line up linearly.

Additionally, this will likely be my last time seeing #90 before its 1,472-day inspection, which I am told is slated to begin at the beginning of next year. For those who do not know, this inspection is required for all active steam locomotives every 15 years or 1,472 "service days" (whichever comes first) and requires a complete teardown of the locomotive to inspect the boiler to ensure it is safe to operate, and then the locomotive must be put back together again. However, I am very confident that Strasburg will waste no time in getting #90 back into service and ready for another 15 years of service.
