The LHD Trieste – Amphibious Helicopter Carrier of the Italian Navy (Marina Militare) in Portugal

Описание: 🇮🇹 Trieste (L 9890) – Italian Navy Amphibious Assault Ship in Lisbon 🇵🇹

On July 31st, 2025, I saw the Trieste (L 9890) arriving off the coast of Lisbon. The ship officially docked at the Santa Apolónia Cruise Terminal, and it was closed on August 1st, because it was opened for navy personnel and ambassadors, but on August 2nd, I had the opportunity to visit and film this incredible vessel during its public exhibition.

The Trieste (LHD – Landing Helicopter Dock) is a modern multi-role vessel capable of amphibious operations, helicopter transport, medical assistance, and acting as a command ship. She’s part of the future of Italy’s naval power projection.

📍 Facts about the Trieste:

Length: 245 meters

Full displacement: ~33,000 tons

Crew: ~460 personnel

Capacity: Up to 700 troops, armored vehicles & helicopters

Features: Flight deck, hangar, hospital facilities, well deck for landing craft

Builder: Fincantieri Shipyard, Castellammare di Stabia, Italy

Commissioned: Expected entry into service – 2025

🛳️ July 31st – I saw the Trieste arriving from the coast as it entered Lisbon.
📍 August 1st – The ship was docked at Santa Apolónia Cruise Terminal.
🚫 August 1st – Access was restricted to Navy personnel and ambassadors.
👥 August 2nd – The public was allowed to visit. I filmed onboard and documented the experience.
👋 August 3rd – I saw the Trieste departing while I was near the Tagus river.

🎥 Throughout these days, I document the ship from the docks, the boarding process, and key areas of the ship, with added subtitles and commentary throughout.
