Denver has a first class light rail system, ideal for the airport, town centre and a number of suburbs. I purchased a day pass on my last day in Denver for just $9 as I needed to get to the airport in the evening for my flight home, this left the rest of the day to explore the system, I chose to ride the D line from 30th & Downing to Littleton-Mineral. Our light rail train set off from the leafy suburbs of 30th & Downing through Denver City along a route that involved mainly street running with occasional sections of dedicated track. Shortly after Colfax at Auraria we leave the streets to run on dedicated rails adjacent to main line heading towards Colorado Springs and beyond, passing a succession of coal, manifest and a stack trains as far as the end of the line for light rail at Littleton-Mineral.
