Back in 1994, Johnny G came to The Sound Spa studio in Chester, Pa with Paul Piccari (Hit The Ground Runnin) to listen to a project Al Alberts Jr, Chris Alberts and I were working on with Frankie "Double Dutch Bus" Smith. Johnny for some reason started spittin out The Humpty Hump which impressed Al, Chris and I so much that we decided to create a track with him to see if there were some possibilities of developing him as a White Rapper since Vanilla Ice was the only one claiming that title at the time. I told Johnny to write something unique at which a couple days later he came back with "Label Me Tough". Chris Alberts and I put together the tracks along with Rob Knauss, Paul Piccari, his wife Donna Piccari and I supplied the backup vocals. I gave producer Joe Venneri the only cassette reference copy I had. He was so impressed saying he would get back to me with some options. Years went by, Johnny became the drummer for the famous LA band The Bullet Boys and the project of Label Me Tough was never continued. Johnny unfortunately lost his life in a car accident in 2011 and has been greatly missed by his friends, family and fans. In 2019 Joe Venneri had past away and while I was on Ebay, someone from Massachusetts had purchased a storage unit the contained tapes and masters where Joe stored his projects which also contained masters and projects that were mine. One of those projects was Johnny's Label Me Tough that I had totally forgot about. I contacted the guy who purchased the storage unit where he fortunately supplied me a copy of the reference tape. I've had this track for so long that I thought it would be great to upload it to YouTube as a memory of our friend Johnny, not for monetizing purposes, but to honor Johnny's legacy.
