Описание: CENTERVILLE -- It's always hard to leave your family at home, especially on a holiday like Christmas Day.We opened up at 5 p.m. tonight and a line waiting for people to get in here, said Bryan Cunningham, manager at Fricker's in Centerville.The line, along with the cash register at Fricker's, has been going non-stop ever since.The bar full of customers is keeping employees busy on Christmas Day.I'd much rather be at home spending time with my family but I always enjoy coming in here and seeing everyone and all of our regulars that come in here to eat, said Rachel Stites, a server at Fricker's.But they're not the only ones working on a holiday.This is life support, said Jeffrey Ross, an MICU Registered Nurse for Community EMS in Centerville.These men are the life support for those who need medical care.This year is the first time I've worked Christmas in a couple of years, said Ross. It's been part of my life as you know, working as a servant to the people, and it's just part of the job.A part of the job that makes it difficult for Ross to explain to his 10-year-old son.I've kept up a good lie, and explained to him that Santa comes on the day after Christmas for people who work in public service, he said. He believes that until this day and hopefully we'll maintain that for a while.Whether it's a harmless white lie, or a harmless rain check. We tend to celebrate the night before we open like one present, and then the next day if I'm off, said Loren Ackenhausen, an MICU Paramedic for Community EMS in Centerville. We'll do something big and open everything or just wait until another day to do it.It all works for these men and their families.They understand that what I'm doing is important and it helps people and that there is a need for it, said Ackenhausen.It's just something that has to be done, people get hurt and sick everyday, seven days a week, 365 days a year, said Ross. We're here to serve the people. ... Holiday or not.
