Today we’re back on the road with another heavy sand load, departing from Raton and heading north toward Denver. The route may seem familiar, but each haul comes with its own challenges — weather shifts, mountain gradients, and long stretches of open highway where focus is everything.
We start by rolling out of Raton’s dry, dusty landscape, merging onto the highway as the sun climbs over the hills. The trailer feels heavy, every acceleration demanding patience, every brake input needing precision. As we push deeper into Colorado, the scenery transforms: desert tones fade into cooler mountain air, winding roads, and higher elevation.
