"Here's why it's best to stick with single grains/millets:
1. Too much fiber from multi-grains can hinder the absorption of essential nutrients like iron and more.
2. Each grain has unique enzymes. Eating them separately makes digestion smoother.
3. If you have chronic gut issues like IBD/IBS, it's wise to avoid multi-grains for these reasons.
4. Nature designed grains individually. Processed items are better left aside.
5. Ragi brings calcium, bajra offers iron, and jowar provides phosphorus. They're best absorbed when enjoyed on their own. Mixing too much can confuse your digestion.
P.S. If you've had trouble making soft millet rotis or they come out as papad, stay tuned for our next reel showing the right way to make them."
Khushi bhi hai but gam bhi isi baat ka hai ki bina research paper ke ham vishwaas nahi karte hain. Most researches these days are funded by industries.
We at Diet Insight use to prescribe multigrain till 2016 because that’s what books and some researches said. Multigrain becoming the talk of town (hype) was a success of industrialisation and marketing.
Since then, we stopped, and having worked with over 20k people so far, the result is that multivitamin companies are not quite happy with us 🙂. (the absorption is so much better that there is no need to consume multivitamins)
While multigrain may be a better choice for someone who is only consuming wheat, we have seen multigrain causing issues with digestion, allergies, constipation, and other gut related issues (primarily because of fiber imbalance). Also with nutrient absorption because reports show their bodies remain deficient of vital micronutrients.
Eating one millet/grain at a time (according to season, region, availability, suitability) but allowing variety in your diet (i.e. spread across different meals or days), allows for best digestion and absorption. Great for diabetics too.
That’s what our ancestors used to do. Perhaps common sense was more prevalent at that time. Lagta hai paper nikaalna hi padega 😀
