LATEST UPDATE: As of the 11 a.m. advisory, Tropical Storm Elsa is moving northeast across the Carolinas with torrential wind and gusty winds. The center of circulation was located near Rockingham, North Carolina with 45 mph maximum sustained winds. Heavy rainfall from Elsa could lead to considerable flash flooding in central and eastern North Carolina Thursday.
As the area of circulation moves into North Carolina, the strongest impacts from wind and rain remain on the eastern side of the storm. Despite a rainy Tuesday morning commute in Charlotte, there were no reports of significant flooding.
The National Weather Service had briefly issued a Flood Advisory for a portion of Union County, North Carolina as heavy rains from Elsa impacted the Monroe and Marshville areas.
Tropical storm conditions are expected along portions of South Carolina Thursday morning. Tropical Storm conditions are also expected along the coasts of North Carolina starting later Thursday and the mid-Atlantic by Thursday afternoon. #Elsa #NCwx #SCwx
