Hey everyone and welcome back to my channel💕

I receive so many questions about whether to become an Anesthesiologist or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and what the future of anesthesiology will be!!!

The reason why you can't find definitive answers online, is because there aren't any!! But I understand how frustrating it can be for current high school and college students to be confused about the matter!

Disclaimer: I am an Anesthesiology Resident! Therefore, I have no experience as an Anesthesiologist nor CRNA!!!! So most of this is my opinion! Simply answering the question that many of my subscribers and followers have asked over the last month. I can only give my perspective based on data that is available. Physicians and CRNAs please feel free to share your perspectives!

You do need to understand that A LOT of the issue is due to BILLING! Money makes the world go 'round! I will not insult the intelligence of either profession, saying one is not as qualified than the other, but the difference in education and clinical training is not comparable, for now! Know that beginning in 2022, all CRNA programs will ONLY offer doctorate degrees! (DNP or DNAP) This will extend most programs by approx. 1 year. Also take the required ICU work experience for CRNAs into consideration as a part of their clinical experience! Most work at least 3 years in the ICU!

As of now, certain states allow CRNAs to practice anesthesia Independently! Be sure to google the states you are interested in practicing! I am completing residency training in Florida, and currently my hospital employs Anesthesiologists and CRNAs mainly, with one AA at the moment. The Anesthesiologists and CRNAs work together to provide anesthesia care to the patient! Today at work, the Anesthesiologist covered 2 O.Rs at the same time, with a resident in one OR and CRNA in the other! It can be drastically different in other locations throughout the city, state, and/or country!

Currently, Texas does not allow CRNAs to practice independently. Mentioned only because I am from Texas, and one day plan to return!

Also, this video was not created to offend either profession. As stated in the video, both are awesome professions and highly trained! Both provide the same care to the patient... which is the only thing that really matters, EXCELLENT PATIENT CARE, regardless of who pushes the medication.

3. Depth and Length of Education (Degree) Some argue that Physicians are the clinical experts!
