Here is the latest Medieval Ladies video @MedievalLadies , looking at the effigies in Lustleigh Church in Devon. Some lovely classic medieval details and a wonderful cloak.
X3 late C13th or likely early C14th effigies. Two removed from the nave at some point, sadly separated and repositioned under windows. Probably from the Dynham (Dinham) or Prowz family.
3rd effigy is likely to be Sir William Prowz, 1329. Effigy has been twice removed, replaced where a leaden coffin was found in 1850.
The female effigy, Lady Dynham/Lady Prowz, is possibly related by marriage to the C13th Dynham Heiress of Cotehele (from the lecture I attended 2 weeks ago with the Plympton Civic Society) and the female effigies at Ilsington (last weeks video) and Kingskerswell, both have Dynham connections.
Female Effigy details include
*Wimple
*Veil
*Belt
*Cloak/mantle
Knight Effigy details include
*Helm
*Coif
*Belts
*Scabbard
*Surcote
& Swords
