A Journey To The Past at Old World Wisconsin

Описание: In this segment of Discover Wisconsin, we are taking a journey to the past at Old World Wisconsin. Tucked in the depths of the Kettle Moraine State Forest in the town of Eagle is Old World Wisconsin, a place to go back in time and see firsthand how settlers came to the world they eventually created. The facility includes 60 beautifully restored historic structures on over 600 acres of picturesque land. Today we are going to get up close and personal to some of the spaces and activities they encountered in the 18 and 1900s!

First, we talk with the head farmer, Mark Korf, about the uses of different animals on the farm. He talks more about the history of farms and how they have evolved and all of the farm animals Old World Wisconsin now has on-site.

Next, we spoke with Jeanne Christensen from the Schultz Garden to see how the gardens have evolved and what role they played back in time. We learn that the garden at 1860 Pomeranian House was designed to be a kitchen garden filled with a mixture of plants, from flowers to potatoes. Children and adults alike can now visit Old World Wisconsin and see how things used to be while encouraging them to see how important the environment is.

Then, we get to the Historic Beer Brewing site at Old World Wisconsin where co-host Marie Justice goes along with Sam Pike to see the process from start to finish of Old World Wisconsin crafting their beer from hops grown on-site.
