Описание: The McMullen Museum welcomes Professor of Art History Daria Borghese for a virtual lecture, “The Galleria Borghese: From Cardinal Scipione’s Private Collection to Public Museum.” The Galleria houses a collection begun by Cardinal Scipione Borghese (1579–1633), nephew of Pope Paul V. Borghese will discuss how Scipione assembled antiquities and early modern paintings and sculptures by artists like Raphael, Caravaggio, Titian, and Bernini to elevate the family’s rank in Rome’s aristocratic hierarchy and to justify his own recent rise in social status.
