Описание: Spring maize is commonly planted from mid-January to the end of February. In this video, we have argued that spring maize may even be planted at the end of December after the foggy and frosty days subside. It is already planted during December in our frost-free province of Sindh. It
may also be planted in high tunnel during the end of December. During this year, it is not feasible to plant during this month in KPK and core area of Punjab province.
Core area of spring maize consists mainly of Depalpur, Okara, Sahiwal, Vehari and secondarily of Lodhran, Khanpur , parts of Rahim Yar Khan. Parts of Central areas of spring maize are going to receive 10-20 mm but most of this area is going to receive very little rainfall. Early January rainfall has hampered the cultivation of spring maize very early in January. However, farmers of core area may accomplish its planting within the month of February. The secondary areas of spring maize like Gojra, Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang and pockets in Nankana sahib, Gujranwala, Lahore and kusoor are going to receive 20-30 mm rainfall which may hamper the timely planting of spring maize. South Punjab is not going to receive rainfall during last week of January. In this video, we have highlighted that farmers of South Punjab have golden chance to fill the gap of shortage of spring maize. They may cultivate maize well in time and this crop may fetch more income than cotton crop.
Sowing time plays a crucial role for getting better yield of a crop. It is an essential point in production technology of crops. Sometimes, early sowing of maize becomes difficult due to changing weather and climate conditions.
Varieties play very important role in the production and yield of Maize (Corn) crop. Hybrid varieties of several companies are performing well in the field. During Spring season of 2021, four hybrid varieties of Bayer company were cultivated on large scale near Gojra district TT Singh Punjab Pakistan. Their harvesting ceremony was attended and very interesting features of these varieties (DK-7024, DK-6317, DK-9108, DK-6321) were observed at the spot. We have introduced their salient features in this video. Maize is one of the most important cash crop of Pakistan. Farmers face some difficulty in choosing the best variety of maize. In this short video clip, some major varieties of maize have been displayed with their visual representation so that farmers can choose the best variety for their field.
Fertilizers have the most important role in maize crop growth and production but they are getting more and more expensive. Maize production has become very expensive due to higher rates of phosphorus and potash fertilizers. Under the scenario of rising price of fertilizers and salt affected soil conditions, we have suggested a well-balanced schedule of acidic fertilizers for spring maize in this video.Proper use of fertilizers and nutrients play a key role for better growth and development of maize crop. Effective use of fertilizers guarantee the higher production and yield of crop. Corn is one of the major crops of Pakistan and has a very high demand in our society. Its modern production technology has been given in this video.
