In my final interview to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2026 I met with Jess Eley from Callaway Golf who is currently studying for a Team Leader apprenticeship with @newcollegeswindon1
A self-confessed lifelong learner, Jess was attracted to an apprenticeship because she was able to gain a recognised qualification while working in the role. She also saw it as a way of her existing knowledge and experience being validated.
To say that Jess has embraced this experience is an understatement. This includes attending the optional, non-fiction book club I hosted which she credits with changing her habit of only reading murder mysteries in her leisure time. The book that got her hooked: The Song of Significance, by Seth Godin.
I also introduced Jess and her cohort to https://www.timetothink.com/thinking-.... She explains her initial thoughts about this different approach and why she has subsequently used Thinking Rounds with her team to help facilitate meetings and foster psychological safety.
It's fair to say that Jess is a huge advocate of apprenticeships!
