Jacques de Chalendar, adjunct professor of energy resources engineering at Stanford, discusses computational tools used for (1) tracking emissions in the U.S. electricity system, and (2) experimenting with buildings on the Stanford campus in the context of the COOLER Research Program. COOLER’s goal is to make large, modern buildings more energy efficient, flexible, low carbon and resilient using data, optimization and control.
De Chalendar's research focuses on building state-of-the-art computational tools for energy and carbon management problems. He received a PhD in energy resources engineering from Stanford and an Ingénieur Polytechnicien from the French Ecole Polytechnique (X2011).
