Clashes erupted between two communities in the Kolkata suburbs of Mominpur and Ekbalpur on Sunday night. Rioting was rife in sensitive areas of Kolkata, including Mominpur and the nearby Ekbalpur neighbourhood. Several cars were damaged or destroyed. The BJP's Leader of the Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Governor of West Bengal, asking for immediate action. He has requested that central soldiers be sent to the difficult region by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The number of community confrontations has more than doubled. There are communal conflicts everywhere: in Karnataka, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. Prof. Manojit Mondal of the TMC takes aim at the saffron party.
