How To Repair A Damaged Shaft Using Machining Techniques

00:00 - Introduction
00:21 - Undercutting the substrate by a minimum of 0.06 inches (approx. 1.6mm)
00:31 - Machining a rough thread profile to achieve a clean, rough bare metal
01:00 - Degreasing the prepared surface using Belzona 9111 or any other approved cleaner/degreaser
01:12 - Applying 6-8 wraps of tape to both sides of the repair area to act as a thickness gauge
01:52 - Using Belzona 1111 (Super Metal) – a two-part repair composite
02:07 - Mixing ratio by volume: 3 parts base to 1 part solidifier
02:17 - Mixing thoroughly until a uniform, streak-free color is achieved
02:30 - Applying Belzona 1111, forcing it down into the surface using a brush to avoid air entrapment
03:06 - Removing excess product and smoothing out the surface
03:26 - Removing the tape
03:48 - Allowing the product to fully cure
03:53 - Machining the repair down to within 0.005 inches (125 microns) of the desired profile
04:32 - Removing the final 0.002 inches (50-75 microns) using fine emery cloth
