In this video, I will focus on the importance of Irrigation in the wheat crop at the grains filling stage. Further I will discuss the ideal temperature and rise in temperature issues during March month and its impact on wheat grains weight and size.
Milking stage or grains filling stage is one of the important critical stage in wheat crop. Water deficiency or drought at this stage may reduce wheat grains yield by reducing the size and weight of wheat grains.
Ideal temperature for grains filling of wheat is 28 degree centigrade. Increase in temperature from this mean temperature may reduce wheat yield. March month in Punjab especially in South Punjab is going to be hotter as compared to previous years. Watering in wheat field during March month especially in first fortnight can decrease the chances of heat waves impact on wheat yield.
Global warming is affecting agricultural crops in Pakistan. By adopting some good agronomic practices, we may prevent our crops from yield losses.
