UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Performance and Production
My FMP was a contemporary orchestra that I organised, trained, and managed, performing a selection of my original compositions. It initially began as a way to introduce me to the skill of conducting in preparation for university, but it quickly developed into a collaborative project involving the whole college. I also gathered feedback from the audience, who were overwhelmingly moved and deeply affected by the emotional impact of the pieces—especially those exploring themes of queer identity in these uncertain times. I loved working on this project, despite the stress, because it pushed me—and everyone else—in new and challenging ways. It took us out of our comfort zones and encouraged us to discover new approaches to music-making. I truly believe this project will have a lasting impact on many of us, and it’s an incredible feeling to know I helped create something so meaningful and positive.
