Last spring, immigrations and customs of enforcement officers in New Jersey detained a 32-year-old Palestinian native. According to her lawyer, she mistakenly believed that she was lawfully present in the country on a student visa. But for the last 10 months, she has been in an ICE facility in north Texas and her family isn’t being allowed to see her.
