Facing obsolescence threats to the legendary #BoforsGuns, the #IndianArmy’s Corps of #EME stepped in with decisive innovation, Re-powering the gun with a modern Cummins Engine, already in use with the indigenously developed #DhanushHowitzer, ensuring standardisation, improved reliability and reduced logistical footprint.
The execution of this engineering upgrade was undertaken at the 506 Army Base Workshop, where expert teams successfully completed precision retro-fitment of the new engine into the legacy platform. Following rigorous field trials that validated the performance and reliability of the upgraded system, the #IndianArmy is now set to begin full-scale re-powering of the entire Bofors fleet. ⚙️
