Jayson Tatum on Turning 24: "I'm Always Trying to Outdo Myself"

Tatum turned 24 today and spoke about his birthday, his relationship with Ime Udoka, facing Ja Morant and the Grizzlies and more. Boston will host the Memphis Grizzlies tonight at TD Garden. QUOTES FROM TATUM BELOW:

On beating 'lottery teams': "They're all worth 1, regardless of if you're playing a top seed or a lottery team ... just going into every game, a majority of the time, is about what we need to do rather than always worrying about the other team."

On Ja: "(Morant)'s been playing great ... he's one of the special players in this league."

On his 24th birthday: "The beard part for sure. I remember those times praying that it would grow overnight, but some things take time."

"It's hard to reflect while you're in it. When you start reflecting you get complacent. I'm always trying to outdo myself, whether I score 50 or 60, I don't carry it over ... it's always about what you're going to do now, what you're going to do next."

On Brown injury: "I think we all (have to put more on our shoulders) ... it gives opportunities for other guys like Aaron last game. Not just myself. Everybody. Everybody has to kind of fill that void."

On Ime : "We came into the season with a relationship .. spending every day with somebody and learning each other, getting to know each other .. a lot of respect for him and how he approaches things and his basketball mind .. since day 1, pushing me to be the best I can be"
