Deadly protests have swept across Angola following a sharp rise in fuel prices. Demonstrators took to the streets of Luanda and other cities in July to protest soaring costs and worsening living conditions. Police responded with force, leaving at least four dead and over 500 arrested. Human rights groups have condemned the crackdown and called for respect of peaceful assembly.
