Passionate about solving what seems like impossible puzzles, Nina is searching for the answer to one question: How can those su ering from hunger get access to food in harsh and arid places? As venture manager at the Innovation Accelerator of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) she joined forces with the Sahrawi refugees in Algeria in 2016 and harvested the rst hydroponically grown fresh crops in the Sahara Desert. Since then, from the urban slums of Peru to refugee camps in Chad, Nina is revolutionizing, low-cost solutions and testing high- tech, futuristic technologies to disrupt hunger.

Münchner Kammerspiele Passionate about solving what seems like impossible puzzles, Nina is in the search for the answer to one question: How can those suffering from hunger get access to food in harsh and arid places? In 2016, she found green in a sea of sand. As venture manager at the Innovation Accelerator of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) she joined forces with the Sahrawi refugees in Algeria in 2016 and harvested the first hydroponically grown fresh crops in the Sahara Desert. Since then, from the urban slums of Peru to refugee camps in Chad, Nina is revolutionizing age-old, low-cost solutions and testing high-tech, futuristic technologies to disrupt hunger. Currently she is scaling up globally the hydroponic solutions portfolio for the development and conflict contexts – H2Grow. Prior to WFP, she founded the food start-up TeaTales in Berlin, an organic lifestyle tea brand with social impact. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
