Rofo - Rofo's Theme (1987) - Cover by Synthfluencer
Rofo's Theme’ was written in 1987 by Ronny Verrept and Fonny De Wulff (hence the name of the group “Rofo”). I knew this song from a German TV programme and had almost forgotten about it until it somehow found its way into my YouTube timeline. It's a very powerful and energetic sound and the first thing that came to my mind when I heard it were iconic aerobic dance videos from the 80s. So I chose those for my video theme.
When arranging the song, I didn't want to do an exact 1:1 recreation, but rather try to create a good interpretation based on the synthesiser hardware I own.
The lead brass is played on the Casio CZ-5000. I really love it's wonderful built-in stereo chorus. I also make a lot of use of my Roland JV-1010, which has many iconic 80s sounds on board. Finally I found some pretty fitting samples at pixabay.com and splice.com for the voice shouts.
