This is my English adaptation of 'Kuv Yog Tus Txhaum' by Tub Lis. My adaptation is not a word-for-word translation but it carries the same message of regret and longing, of missed opportunities that could have been.
"What I Didn’t See" is an English adaptation of the Hmong love ballad “Kuv Yog Tus Txhaum” by Tub Lis.
This version stays true to the heart of the original song while re-imagining it through a more introspective, alternative lens. The POV is focused on regret, missed love, and realizing the truth too late.
This adaptation is inspired by the original melody and emotional tone, with English lyrics written to reflect personal fault, self-awareness, and the quiet weight of loss.
It is not intended to replace the original work, but to honor it and introduce its story to a wider (non-Hmong speaking) audience.
