Gurdjieff talks about that there are four levels of consciousness and the highest is a state of enlightenment. Very few can experience this state. The master yogi or guru endeavor to communicate and teach this state of being; however, few can master it. I know and see why it is so difficult. There is an old saying, “that you cannot put new wine in old bottles.” Meaning, that you cannot put new ideas in to a mind that is full of old beliefs and thoughts. One must begin to learn how to unpack, to see how his ideas, thoughts and desires unconsciously direct his life. Why he suffers, why is he or she in so much pain? Freedom is learning how to see and understand our nature.
