In Florida, open carry has historically been banned except in limited circumstances like hunting, fishing, or camping. But that changed dramatically on September 10, when the First District Court of Appeal ruled the state’s open carry ban unconstitutional.

The decision, issued by the First District Court of Appeals, has prompted departments from Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, and Okeechobee counties to reevaluate how they respond to visible firearms in public.
