I've only been doing AX for around three weeks so I don't know all the ins and outs of this kind of encounter but I love the Crusader and SLF's. I am determined to make it work. It's like having FIVE AX weapons and I love it.
I found the SLF is particularly useful for exerting the first few hearts as those require the most hull damage dealt. I don't know if people use premium ammo for this but the SLF afforded me the option to simply use basic ammo. You just need to deal with the swarm first which is what I'm weakest at doing.
I'm not sure what happened, due to being inexperienced but I either got out of sync with swarms or the Medusa enraged or something but I couldn't stop constant swarms on the last few hearts so I went without the SLF for those.
