1998 Schindler Miconic TX traction elevator (w/ M-Series) @ High St, Melrose, JHB, South Africa

Описание: A little worn aesthetically but still absolutely epic find, and some of the most efficient and swift levelling performance on any elevator I have seen. This elevator is located on the building adjoining High Street and Crescent Drive, one of the earliest completed portions of the now blooming Melrose Arch multipurpose precinct off centre of the city of Johannesburg in South Africa, which began groundwork from 1998 and opened publicly in 2001 much smaller than it is today, only consisting of 11 buildings, with the well-known Melrose Arch shopping centre and retail complex opening only years later in 2007 along with new street eateries, as well as prestigious facilities including two Marriott owned hotels, world class dealerships, 5-star gym collection clubs and entertainment facilities and exhibits. This elevator goes between street level in the middle of High Street as well as a basement parking originally separate from but now merged with that of the shopping complex. Completely awesome find as Schindler elevators with M-Series fixtures are ever increasingly becoming rare in South Africa, levelling performance is extremely efficient as with all older Schindler elevators equipped with Miconic controllers, and is also the first Schindler elevator I have come across with a South African exclusive voice. Other elevators around the precinct include a handful of Otis Gen2’s installed at a later date with the shopping complex, which I did not bother capturing as they did not have any stand-out features being typical run-of-the-mill Gen2 elevators. There is also high-speed scenic Schindler Miconic TX elevators in the office building itself as well as some mid-rise Otis elevators in the Marriott hotel, as well as a brand new scenic Schindler 5500 in Virgin Active, which I was unable to access as entry was only restricted to tenants and/or guests.
