On/5/30/2021, at approximately 7:10 AM, I was sitting stationary facing south o n GA-166 and Sales Barn Road checking speeding vehicles with my Pro Laser
I . While checking vehicles, I observed a gray Saturn VUE (P2337424) traveling at a high state of speed. I took out my Pro Laser Ill and observed the vehicle to be
traveling at 73 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone. I activated my emergency equipment and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The gray Saturn (P2337424) pulled into the Quick Trip on GA-166 and Old Airport Road. As Iexited my vehicle and approached the gray Saturn (P2337424) the vehicle very abruptly pulled away and sped though the gas station parking lot initiating a pursuit. I quickly ran back to my patrol car and began to chase the vehicle with all emergency equipment on/functioning. The driver of the gray Saturn turned right onto Old Airport Road and very quickly accelerated to over 100 miles per hour in a 4 5 mile per hour zone. The driver of the vehicle drove very recklessly running the stop sign on Old Airport Road and Frashier Road. The driver of the vehicle also passed several cars on Old Airport Road on a double yellow line and passed one car in the curve of the road.
The driver of the fleeing vehicle turned left at the intersection of Old Airport Road
and Shady Grove Road running that stop sign as well. The driver of the vehicle
crossed the double yellow lines again and was still exceeding speeds of 100 miles
per hour as we approached the intersection of Shady Grove Road and Northside
Drive. The driver of the vehicle turned right onto Northside Drive and began to
accelerate again. At this time, I felt that the driver was a great danger not only to
myself, but to other motorist on the roadway based on his reckless driving and
excessive speeds. I decided to use a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) to
terminate the pursuit immediately.
As I set up for the PIT, the driver of the vehicle began to swerve from the left to the
right lane. I initiated a PIT maneuver on the vehicle and caused the vehicle to
rotate clockwise into a guardrail. This impact disabled the vehicle and it rotated
back onto Northside Drive in the left lane. I exited my vehicle and unholstered my
service weapon giving loud verbal commands to get out of the vehicle. The driver
and passenger of the vehicle both complied, they got on the ground and placed
their hands behind their backs. I placed both men into custody and asked why they
were running. The driver of the vehicle stated that he was running because he had
no valid license. The driver of the vehicle identified himself to be Daniel Jerome
Brimer. I ran Mr. Brimer's name through GCIC and it showed that Mr. Brimer did
not have a license. GCIC also returned that Mr. Brimer had a warrant through
Carrollton for failure to appear. Mr. Brimer was placed under arrest and the warrant
was confirmed through the Carrollton Police Department. The juvenile in the
vehicle identified himself to be Brycen Priest. Mr. Priest did not have any warrants,
so he was released to his legal guardians. The vehicle was released to L&N
Towing by list. Mr. Brimer was transported to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office
where he was released to jail staff for processing.
