So I was going to wait and upload another Kaminomi video, but it's another full version and will probably take me like ten more months, and since nobody's going to watch this video I'm free to talk about all sorts of random stuff...
Random stuff #1: I've got more subscribers than videos! Hooray! And PianoPond has more subscribers than me, after a month of activity... Random stuff #2: I turned the volume way way up, is it loud enough? Random stuff #3: I transcribed this pretty faithfully to the original, but honestly, it's so boring that it sounds like an instrumental or something. OH WAIT, IT IS. And I didn't even realize until AFTER I uploaded this video... well, the vocal sounds really weird, so let's just ignore it.
The song's kinda strange: 0:07 and 0:20's flute and plucked strings shouldn't match up, 0:51's plucks are on different scale tones (but it's back to doubling at 0:57 and 1:10), and 0:14 has a bunch of really loud Gs for some reason. I also added a lot of tremolos! I used them for a drum roll at 0:43, and also during various crescendos since pianos can't make a sustained note louder at 0:21, 0:59, and 1:28. The left hand basically solos at 0:24 and 0:45, which is really cool cause it gets the 'melody', but my favourite left hand part is still the 0:11 or 1:01 accompaniment. The only parts I kinda made up were 0:21 (I have no idea what the left hand chord should be, so I just went with a half-diminished seventh on A) and 1:33's left hand little melodies, which I really love.
I originally recorded this as 離島攻略作戦, but that was just a tentative title. It seems they used 暁の水平線に for the 2014 Spring event, and then changed some previous bosses to use it as well, and then released a vocal album with it as an instrumental track. Anyways, there were no results for 離島攻略作戦 piano arranges, so I thought I'd be the first, but... http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm23755643
It's ok because he doesn't have sheets and didn't even try that 0:21 scale! I still have three or four unarranged tracks that I might transcribe if this video gets enough (let's say, 5000) views. The original reason I did this was because KanColle circles outnumbered Touhou in the most recent Comiket, so...
...speaking of conventions! I 'attended' my first anime con yesterday! Anime Revolution happened in Vancouver this weekend. Cause I'm a poor starving student (or just too lazy to bring enough money), I thought I'd loiter around and see what I could. The East Building was closed off to staff and volunteers only, but Canada Place was literally overflowing with people. All the anime glopped out into the crowd of bewildered elderly (it's Vancouver) passersby, who took plenty of photos nevertheless. I went a few times around and the cosplays were really quite impressive, but I kinda just leaned over the railing and watched the workers load the ferries' luggage half the time, cause I'm too self-conscious to make eye contact and holy crap, so many eyes! I'm surprised I didn't meet anybody I knew, though I guess they're all poor starving students too. To be (un)fair, the ferry loading process was pretty intense, they had like cranes, x-ray scanners, reflective vests and stuff. It's tough for cosplayers to beat that.
Of course, running around the convention soon got boring, and the right side of Canada Place was totally creepy because not a single soul was in sight. Seriously, there were thousands of attendees just a few dozen metres away on the other side of the building and nobody was on the right side at all. But there was another ferry loading stuff so it was ok. Anyways, I went in Canada Place but the doors to the actual big convention room all had these really intimidating tough black-suited Indian guys guarding them. I have no idea why they were almost all Indian, but I decided to push my luck and whaddya know, you need a pass to go in. I kinda ran away after that, though I did go up to the second and third floors to look around—I think most of the doors were closed and there was another scary Indian guy, so I didn't go in any of the rooms. I was considering going around and buying passes off of leaving attendees, but that's unethical and I only had like $3 in Subway change, so I ended up tossing them to some beggar just outside the Canada Place Expo Line Waterfront entrance :/
tl;dr: I was like 'how do I get to Waterfront?' to this Subway guy and he pointed me out and asked, 'Are you cosplay?' and I'm like, 'no, are you', and he's like 'No, I must to work all today and tomorrow...' Then he let me fill my entire bottle with iced tea for free. DEM FEELS ;__;
