Once a year (I think it is once year) Lee Valley has an online sale of Manufacturing Seconds. It's mostly various Veritas planes, but also some other items. You will find out about it if you are on the Lee Valley email list. They advertise that the tools are fully functional, but have some sort of a cosmetic blemish. This year I signed up for the sale and bought a low angle block plane. In this video I am unboxing it and looking it over.
