Do you have a habit of losing your keys, or socks, if you’re in Louisiana you might be getting pranked by a Lutin.
The story of the Lutin dates back to French colonization, and is heavily rooted in Catholicism. But the little spirits are said to be quite a nuisance. No one knows exactly what a Lutin looks like, but the legend says that they are the spirits of babies who died before being baptized.
These gremlin-like spirits harass the living by throwing things across the room or hiding important things in odd places. Cajun grandmas tell stories of Lutins running through the house and leaving little footprints if you put baby powder on the floor. They are also known to be huge fans of horses, sneaking into stables to braid their manes. Horse owners in South Louisiana have reported their horses’ mane to be mysteriously braided within a matter of seconds.
I was only able to find 2 ways to rid yourself of a Lutin. Straight up move out of your house or, the more eventful option, a good old fashioned exorcism.
