Many people wonder if it is safe to visit Playa del Carmen Mexico. In my opinion the answer is YES! But just like visiting any foreign town, you need to be smart. Don't hang out in seedy areas and deal in shady activities. Travel in groups and don't go wandering the streets in the middle of the night.
Playa del Carmen has great nightlife, shopping, and dining so be smart and enjoy.
I highly recommend Blue Lobster (https://www.bluelobster.com.mx/) & Madre Tierra (http://www.madretierraplaya.com/). Both absolutely delicious 5 star dining at 3 star prices. There are hundreds of amazing restaurants that I have still yet to try so please share if you have one you recommend.
Playa del Carmen has been dealing with a major sargassum seaweed problem and I'm not sure when that will change, hopefully soon. I have heard of several resorts using nets to catch the seaweed before it reaches the beaches. But just be aware that you may need to go on a boat tour to get out on the reef to enjoy the pristine turquoise water that the Mayan Riviera is famous for.
