Описание: In a heartbreaking incident from Balasore, the body of Chabirani Dey lay uncremated for four days after her estranged husband, Srustidhar Dey, refused to perform her last rites due to their divorce. The emotional distress and lack of dignity accorded to the deceased woman, who had built their home, has left villagers stunned and saddened.

Chabirani Dey passed away late Sunday night in the Aradabazar area under Sahadevkhunta Police Station. Her husband, who had divorced her years ago and lived separately, reportedly did not even inquire about her health. Her tenants had taken her to the hospital where she breathed her last. Despite villagers informing Srustidhar Dey about her demise, he remained unwilling to cremate her.

The incident drew widespread condemnation, with villagers stepping in to care for the body while waiting for her only son, Sanjeev, to arrive from Canada. Sanjeev ultimately performed the 'Mukhagni' (lighting the pyre) for his mother. The callous indifference of the husband, who once vowed to be her partner for seven lifetimes, has shocked many, as even enemies are said to show sympathy towards a deceased person.
