BREAKING: Oil Prices Surge to Two-Week High Amid Global Tensions

Описание: Global oil prices rose by about 2% to a two-week high on Monday as geopolitical tensions and supply concerns tightened the market.
Brent crude futures climbed by $2.16 to $107.49 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) increased by $1.32, or about 1.4%, to $95.72 per barrel. The rise was linked to stalled U.S.-Iran peace talks and concerns over shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil transit route.
In the domestic market, equities closed in negative territory as bearish sentiment dominated trading activities. The All Share Index fell to 233,521.29 points despite a relatively active session recording 77,290 deals.
Market capitalization stood strong at 143.9 trillion naira, reflecting continued depth in the financial system.
On the gainers’ chart, Maybankage Bank led performance with a 9.26% increase, closing at 5 naira 90 kobo per share.
