S. Korea's trade deficit in 2022 topped US$ 15 billion as oil prices soar

The nation's total trade deficit has risen to more than 15 billion dollars.

According to Korea Customs Service outbound shipments in the first 20 days of June... amounted to 31-point-3 billion dollars, a decline of 3-point-4 percent on-year.
Imports jumped by 21-point-1 percent... to 39 billion dollars.
Deficit for the month so far exceeds 7-point-7 billion.
The Korea International Trade Association forecast the figure to reach 14-point-7 billion.
If so, this would be the first deficit since the 2008 global financial crisis, and the biggest one since 1996.
Key driving factos include soaring cost of oil.
