This is almost the best we could do with the standard AFM.
The fast road head is a special development head, which outflows anything done for this engine before.
Inlet flow is 175cfm (original 135-138), exhaust flow exceeds the original inlet flow by a wide margin (155cfm) and is about 40% more than the original head.
The car is a manual 5 speed.
Despite all this the original Jaguar ancilliary installation is so rubbish, the car made a tad short of 180bhp at the wheels, so still quite far short of the original marketing hype from Jaguar specifying 221bhp DIN, as the release power figure.
It's totally impossible to exceed 200-210bhp from this engine no matter what has been done, in the current configuration.
Not suprisingly the car is very much faster than the original despite clearly being lower powered than announced.
Torque is up to nearly 250ftlb now with a good solid 200fllb at 2000rpm and 175ftlb at 6000rpm.
We have 2 options available:-
1/ Use the early XJS manifold (modified) and run it open loop, vac sensed with a new injection ECU,
or
2/ Replace the nigh on useless, undersized MAF with a bigger better one from our Gazelle project.
Either way, this means a gain of 15bhp, compared with the standard engine which then takes up the modified unit shown here to about 225bhp, at which point we have to change the exhaust manifold, downpipe and system to get rid of the other bottlenecks.
It's forecast to take the power output up another 50bhp doing these extra modifications as well as changing the inlet camshaft for something much more suitable (2mm more lift).
