VAN BUILD E350: HOW TO INSULATE AND INSTALL FLOORING

In our second video, we show you exactly how we install our FOAM BOARD insulation and PLYWOOD flooring to our custom E350 VAN CONVERSION. This is our first full week of van build where we bring you with us to prep our van floor, insulate, and finish our subfloor. (For now!)

OUR TOP THREE TIPS for this section of van build are talked about:

1. Pay close attention to the rust/holes in your van build. It took us longer than we expected to treat the rust spots and fill holes in our van, and it's super important to take the time to do it right. We used steel wool to touch up the rust spots, spray painted, and sprayed rust protector to treat a few areas in our van floor. We filled holes in the floor with screws+washers, and used sealant around the edges.

2. Use cardboard to trace out the shapes of your van floor. It seems obvious but worked really well for us when it came to cutting shapes around the wheel wells, and we wished we used this trick when we cut our insulation boards. It worked so well for our plywood sheets!

3. Make sure you have a lot of weight on top of your floor when you're gluing it to the actual van floor. We used 4 large tires and 4 heavy boxes and it still wasn't enough. If we had to van build again in the future I would definitely prepare with more weight to make sure the insulation boards + plywood sheets are super secure and glued down.

MATERIALS USED:
10 boards of 0.5" polystyrene foam board
5 cans of 3M 77
3 sheets of Baltic Birch plywood
1 can of rust protector spray
1 can of white spray paint
1 steel wool brush + steel wool
3 sticks of sealant + glue gun
1 roll of builders tape
Multiple screws/washers
