Sample footage from Fon's Yoga workshop in West London, January 2013. An introductory workout suitable for anyone wishing to increase flexibility and core strength, improve balance, focus, and coordination. The beginner's routine included seated preparation exercises, joint loosening, asana flow sequences, sun salutation variations, and yoga nidra.
The clip shows an asana flow sequence based around Vrikshasana. The name comes from the Sanskrit words vriksha meaning "tree", and asana meaning "posture". This important basic posture introduces the qualities of a tree, it teaches you to become strong, sturdy, balanced and grow continuously.
Some specific benefits of the sequence shown :
Strengthens thighs, calves, ankles, and spine.
Stretches the groins and inner thighs, chest and shoulders.
Improves sense of balance.
Relieves sciatica and reduces flat feet.
