Day 4 in Albania 🇦🇱 From Hidden Beaches & Ancient Castles to Beautiful Berat 🌊🏰🍷

Описание: Day four of backpacking Albania and this one was packed with adventures! Before heading south to the beautiful town of Berat – known as the “City of a Thousand Windows” 🏠✨ with its stunning Ottoman architecture, riverside views and fairytale castle – we explored some incredible northern gems.
First stop was Lalzi (Lazë) Beach 🌊☀️ – a long stretch of soft sand with calm blue waters, beach bars and plenty of space to relax or take a dip. It’s still much quieter than other Albanian beaches, so it feels like a peaceful escape.
Next up, the historic Cape of Rodon 🏰🌊 – home to the 15th century Rodoni Castle built by Albania’s national hero, Skanderbeg. The dramatic cliffs, fortress ruins and the small St. Anthony Church make this cape both a cultural and natural highlight. Sadly we didn’t have time to see it all, but what we did experience was breathtaking.
Our third stop was the Shkopet Bridge 🌉 – an impressive Ottoman-era stone bridge arching over the crystal-clear Mat River. It’s beautiful for photos, but here’s a tip: park at the top! I made the mistake of driving down the rubble path and nearly lost the car on the climb back up 😅
Finally, we made it to Berat. Our hotel was basic but nice (after a quick room change thanks to a broken toilet seat and a wild shower 🚿). After a small wallet mishap (travel drama, of course!) we explored the charming old town before heading to Lily’s Homemade Food Restaurant 🍲 – a true hidden gem. The food was incredible, made with love and authentic Albanian flavors, but make sure to book ahead as seating is limited and it’s super popular!
We ended the night with cocktails by the river 🍹✨ – the perfect way to wrap up another day of this Albanian adventure.
