Описание: Singer Anita O’Day titled her autobiography High Times Hard Times for good reason—she lived through both. She was a unique singer who sounds like no other (although Veronica Swift is channeling her these days). Starting her career in the swing era, and despite addiction that claimed the lives of many jazz musicians, she performed up to the age of 87. If you’ve never seen her performance at the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival, this clip’s for you.

ABOUT THIS SERIES
The Jazz History series is a video adaptation of a PowerPoint presentation used to teach a university course. It traces the roots of jazz from Ragtime at the turn of the 20th century to jazz-rock fusion at the end of the 1960s.
