"Advanced Revolver FPP" is a concept project created in Unreal Engine 5, serving as a study to explore on how the engine handles animations firsthand.
With the new Viewmodel/First Person feature UE 5.5 added - "Primitive First Person", the process is now much easier.
The idea is that the player can independently dual-wield a primary and an equipment. In this context, the equipment is the flashlight.
The weapon (Revolver) utilizes phased reloading based on remaining bullets in the cylinder.

I've tried showcasing as many of the important features you can learn from, or are curious in knowing how they work.
From showcasing a fully playable Shoot House/Training Range to how the Dual Wielding, the AnimBP and other essential overlooked mechanics works inside Unreal Engine 5.
I went from replicating tutorials 1:1 to then attempt the smaller features on my own until it clicked and understood the logic. I then went over and started the project mostly on my own.
I learned the blueprints logic, UE5's standards, and how to counteract the engine's interpolation for the viewmodel animations.
/!\ Engine Interpolation is what smoothens the animations and can make them look floaty/overly smooth, you counteract this by making areas of the animations more extreme than necessary, then it's normalized once in-engine and looks more like how you intend it to be.

Now, when I think of it, I achieved the very result I wanted to make.

I suppose that's the message, if any - Focus your attention on one thing and don't sidetrack too much.
(This is just a demo concept reel, not meant to be a fully playable game.)
