The National Tsunami Warning Center responded to a tsunami event following a M7.8 aftershock on Thursday, Sep 18, 2025.
A tsunami advisory was posted for the Western Aleutian Islands in Alaska. A tsunami wave was detected and confirmed on deep water pressure sensors (DART buoys) and measured in Amchitka, Alaska, along the coast.
Following procedures and a modeled and measured low risk beyond the alerted area, the tsunami advisory was canceled.
