In my previous video I showed the basic configuration of this NEXX WT3020 router and went through the four modes as described here. In this video I'm going to concentrate more on the setting of the NAS function specifically with reference to Android devices. Here we can see a directory listing of the external pen drive which I've put into the router, we can see that it can be shared via samba FTP or DLNA. I showed in the previous video connecting from Windows laptop but now I am interested more in getting access from an Android device to these files. I'll switch to my smartphone and show you how that's set up. The first thing is to check on our smartphone is that we're connected to the NEXX router. We've got the IP address in the 192.168.8.X which is the address of the router. Next we have installed the ES File Explorer and you can go to the Play Store and get a copy of that. Within the program we click up in the corner and look at our network settings for the LAN and press on scan. We can see that it's found our various devices and we know that the server address is 192.168.8.1 so we click on that and it asks for the username and password which is the default admin admin. Now we can see the storage on the router itself. In “public” the external drive is Sda1 we can see that our files are loaded there. We choose one to play, an excellent video and I suggest you get a copy! While we're playing around with Android devices not particular to the NEXX Router but a useful trick is to use the Samba server, again you can download this from the Play Store. All we need to do is to set up our server and give it a name. We can look at the tcp/ip port session numbers but leave at default. Go next. The other thing that we need to do is to setup what we're going to share which is called the roots. We'll call it share and browse for whatever content we wish to share. Here we share the SD card. Just start the service. Now go to our other device and see that we can connect to it. On the other Android device use the ES File Explorer again and look at the network setting for the LAN and scan for devices. It's discovered I've got a laptop on the on the NEXX network 8.1 is obviously the server that we've already taken a look at and the other 102 the server that we set up. You can see the folder that we created called share and under that we can see the contents of the drive itself. Go into a folder And load a file. We can see a rather filthy laptop fan. Before I go one final tip everybody should know one of the easiest ways to transfer stuff is using OTG. The adapter will plug into the base microUSB of your device. Then you plug in your USB device and you can copy files directly. In File Explorer we can see the USB Drive and this is how I've been transferring the video files. Go into the internal storage and see the files, select by long touching it and copy. Then go back to the home page select USB Drive and the folder and paste it. Sometimes this is the easiest way to copy something quickly. #1nformatica
