Описание: Suspended Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Deputy Chief Brigadier Julius Mkhwanazi and his five co-accused return to the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court on 18 August 2026 as their bail application continues.

The six accused face serious charges, including murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances and defeating the ends of justice, in connection with the 2022 killing of businessman Emmanuel Mbense.

The State is opposing bail in the Schedule 6 matter. The court has been hearing evidence and arguments surrounding the circumstances of Mbense’s death and whether the accused should be released on bail.
