Each summer, thousands of athletes run the historic Falmouth Road Race on Cape Cod. While the event is a celebration of community, health, and endurance, race day can be physically demanding—especially in heat and humidity. One of our top safety priorities is protecting participants from sudden cardiac arrest, a life-threatening emergency that can happen to anyone, even healthy athletes.

Dr. John Jardine, Medical Director for the Falmouth Road Race, then walks you through how to recognize sudden cardiac arrest and perform hands-only CPR so you’re ready to act in an emergency. Quick action from bystanders can double or even triple a person’s chance of survival.
