Описание: In the music business, there’s a thin line between iconic and ironic. Some artists spend decades building a legacy, only to watch the internet reduce it to a dumpster fire. While others were the first to strike the match. Coming up, we're counting down the musicians and their songs who became everybody's favorite joke — whether they meant to or not. It’s our latest edition of Punchlines, and this episode has a few musicians who weren’t afraid to throw the first punch… including the genre-bending rocker Kid Rock, who was at the center of a Waffle House beat-down. The incident ended with him being arrested after he tried to flee the scene in his tour bus and flashed a “Jr. Police Badge” when the cop pulled him over. There’s also the female pop star Paula Abdul who conquered the charts, survived tabloid chaos, and racked up 6 consecutive #1s with a little help from a cheesy animated cat. Plus, a famous Radio Personality who tried to make a mockery of the famous comedy band Steel Panther, but this band of jokesters turned the tables on him and made him the punchline. These stories and more are stealing the headlines next on POR. Let’s get into it.

Hey Music junkies professor of rock always here to celebrate the greatest songs and the greatest artists of all time . If you understand the beautiful relationship between a pencil and a cassette tape, you’ll dig this channel of deep musical nostaliga. make sure to subsribe and like share and comment.
I’ve received a lot of request for another punchlines episode so I’ve been digging deep for some great stories and I’ve got a few for ya now. let’s count down the 5 musicians and song that have become a bit of a joke… depending on your perspective. At #5, i’ve got everybody’s favorite laker girl. it’s Paula Abdul and her friend MC SCKAT KAT… After establishing herself as a highly successful cheerleader and choreographer, Paula Abdul transitioned to professional music in the late 80s… launching her recording career with her 1988 album Forever Your Girl. The LP spent a record-breaking 64 consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200 before climbing to the #1 spot, where it stayed for 10 weeks.

Paula’s debut sold over 7 million copies and produced four #1 singles: "Straight Up," "Forever Your Girl," "Cold Hearted," and "Opposites Attract." Paula became the first female artist to have four #1 singles on a debut album as well as the first female artist to have a music video with an animated rapping cat… And hopefully the last one as well. Yeah, it was cringeworthy. But hey, shout out to MC Skat Kat, who released his own album in 1991. It’s a collector's item. As Paula’s career moved into the 90s, her second album Spellbound also went to #1 in the US and certified 3x platinum. The lead single "Rush Rush," showcased Paula’s softer side and became her 5th straight chart-topper on the Hot 100. This time for the music video Paula featured actor Keanu Reeves.

Good choice. After that, “The Promise of a New Day” continued Paula’s hot streak, becoming her 6th straight #1. Though it would be her last. Other singles like "Blowing Kisses in the Wind,” “Vibeology” and “Will You Marry Me” fell short, but were all still hits, and i have to admit that i included this album on my guilty pleasures countdown last year. I dig this album, it’s undeniably catchy and it take me back to a few great memories. Anyway, Paula was on top of the world… that is until In Living Color put her in the crosshairs and spoofed her video for Promise of a New Day. The sketch comedy show ruthlessly rewrote the song dubbing it “Promise of a Thin Me.” The song and video took shots at Paula’s weight in general, her backside in particular, and also mocked her singing. Cast member Kelly Coffield Park played the part of Paula. She mimicked Abdul's signature moves while the camera vertically stretched and squashed her body into absurd, funhouse-mirror proportions.
