I got out and up Kings Peak in Stratchcona Provincial park finally! I solo hiked this one and had the entire place to myself as it was the middle of the week. I ran into a black bear right off the bat on this one. Awesome weather and perfect snow conditions for heading up the Main Gully and North Glacier. Camped at the meadow before the glacier and stashed my tent and sleeping stuff to save some weight. The first bit of the trail winds through some pretty amazing old growth Douglas fir and Cedar trees.
First time ever I ran into a grouse and surprise it so much it tumbled down a cliff. Luckily she was alright and made it back to her chicks Ok.
Overall an awesome trip. Headed back up into the mountains tomorrow to do some maintenance on a remote wind turbine so tune in later to check that out!
